So in case you haven't noticed I'm not really on schedule anymore. I'm getting ready to move and working on a lot of projects right now. Ultimately the weekly song thing was mostly for my benefit and I do plan on getting back to it but for now releases are going to continue to be a bit more irregular. If you're stuck anticipating, here's a home recording I made on 4-track back in probably 2005 or so. It's the only one from back then that's not super embarrassing (coincidentally, one of the ones without vocals).
I had another unplanned hiatus, due to sickness this time. My singing voice is almost back. This week's song is about this phenomenal piece by Kevin Roose in New York Magazine. I was trying to capture the combination of really shocked and not surprised at all that it provokes.
I'm getting a little behind again, but I think this one turned out really well.
I participated in a giant collaboration that Jonathan Mann, the guy who writes a song every single day, organized. 45 people contributed stuff to this. It was a lot of fun and sort of astounding in terms of what the internet makes possible.
I maybe went a bit overboard with strange vocal effects on this one, but I like it.
Here you go. Not one but two songs. Still got another couple extra to do before I'm really caught up, so the irregular schedule will continue for a bit before we get back to actually weekly.
Okay, so the weekly songs might be a little non-weekly for a bit. Ideally I'd like to catch up to where I would have been if I'd been putting them out over the holidays, which will mean a slightly irregular schedule. In any case, here's one I'm pretty proud of:
You may have noticed I haven't been posting songs over the holidays. I'm not really set up at this point to travel and actually record (although I have been writing stuff). Sorry for the lack of warning, but weekly songs will resume next week or so.
